Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) Department of Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics seeks an experienced scientist and leader who is passionate about drug hunting in the areas of oncology biologics discovery (e.g., cancer immunotherapeutics, antibody drug conjugates, etc.). The selected individual is expected to serve as a local leader at our expanding site in Redwood City, CA, and represent the Department on drug discovery working groups and early clinical development teams to formulate program strategies and influence decision-making. The discovery program-related activities are generally centered on demonstrating proof-of-concept for novel targets, selecting/characterizing drug candidates, and projecting human starting and efficacious doses with the ultimate goal of improving drug candidate design, delineating differentiation strategies, and facilitating translational PK/PD efforts from discovery to development. At BMS, we take pride in applying model-based approaches for the quantitative integration of preclinical Pharmaceutics/PK/PD/efficacy/toxicity data in order to broadly impact on drug discovery and development processes. A clear understanding of PK/PD principles and their application to drug discovery is critical to this role. In addition, the person is expected to supervise junior scientists and provide scientifically sound guidance in hypothesis generation and problem solving. Furthermore, to effectively assess developability risk in the area of oncology, the selected candidate is expected to build a close and productive working relationship with biologists as well as scientists from other functional areas within the site and across geographic locations.
